Often referred to by her title The Black, Halisstra was the Headmaster of the House of Time. Halisstra Melarn is the Drow Headmistress of House Melarn (thought to be the current dominant Drow great House). She recently sent an emissary to the Magistery with a Letter expressing a desire to resolve the current situation peacefully, and claiming that the Drow we have encoutered previously have been acting without her authority. Halisstra had previously been named as the "Mother" of the Draegloth. A Draegloth recently surrendered to a Magistery party (see Recollections) and told an unlikely tale of the Underdark being abandoned by Lolth and of Halisstra directing her children to search the planes for a new home. This Draegloth promised to send an emissary to the Magistery to discuss this. Halisstra upon giving her life to save the material plane from Danifae & Zuggtmoy's wrath and carnage was forsaken to be Lolth's messenger and cursed avatar, come to be known as the Lady Penitent. Eventually The Eternal Order was able to break the curse that held Halisstra and freed her from Lolth's bonds during an excursion with Tel into the underdark Halisstra Melarn killed Eilistraee while under Wendonai's blood curse, and when she was restored to herself realizing what she had done has consumed Eilistraee's portfolio and has become the goddess of song, dance, swordwork, hunting, moonlight, goodness, and beauty, among the other gods in the Dark Seldarine.
