=Faction Creation= Fate utilizes a concept called the "Bronze Rule" or "Fate Fractal", which allows most things in a given game to function like characters where appropriate. As such, the creation rules for Factions follow a similar workflow as for characters, with some slight differences. As an organization is nothing without its members, in addition to having aspects that define it, each core aspect of a faction is represented by a Face character. As characters. they also have their own High Concept to start with. ==High Concept== A faction's High Concept functions almost exactly like a character's. It defines the large-scale picture of the faction, and can be invoked and compelled just like a character's High Concept. Example: The Guild of Stoneworkers is one of the major groups to survive the collapse with a decent amount of its leadership intact. They're an industrious group whose skill and expertise made Solace's construction world-renowned before things went to hell. Their High Concept is simple: '''Artists of Earth and Stone''' ===High Concept Face=== The High Concept's Face is often the head or most prominent member. A High Concept is enough to get started, if it's necessary to flesh them out further this can always be done later. ==Dark Secret== Every organization has some trouble or secret that, if it were to come to light, could be used against it, either directly or as a source of division. This functions similarly to a character's Trouble aspect, but for the organization as a whole. Example: While few can argue with the quality of work from craftsmen within the Guild of Stoneworkers, fewer can say they enjoy their rates and prices. The Guild's excuse is their expertise, as anyone can swing a hammer or use a chisel but few can do so and produce some of the architectural beauties seen around the city, and no conjurer could whip up a building like the Temple of Pelor with a flick of their wrist and a little magic. This attitude, while it does line their pockets well, does little to endear them to the wealthy and elite within the city, who chafe against the Guild's tendency to have '''Flint''' '''Chips on their Shoulders'''. ===Dark Secret Face=== The Dark Secret's Face is the character that symbolizes the problems facing the organization. For secrets with an external focus, this can be someone outside of the organization that is a source of problem for them. For internal issues, this is typically someone who exemplifies the internal issues or division within the group. ==Organization Goal== The Goal aspect of an organization represents the overall aims of the group. ===Organization Goal Face=== ==The Ties That Bind #1== ==The Ties That Bind #2== == Faction Skills == Faction skills are used in the same way as character skills, to Overcome obstacles and complications, Create Advantages, Attack, and Defend. However, to represent the collective nature of the actions taken by organizations, the skill list itself differs.
