==Recollections by Astret== I wake at my normal time and go through my normal routine, despite all that happened yesterday. I went to the Fall Festival with perfectly normal expectations, but the aura was different this year. There was a miasma that followed those in power this year. It stank. None of us wanted to pay these exorbitant taxes anymore. They event attempted to tax my gambling winnings! How were they able to observe exactly how many silver I had own? There is a knock at my door. What I did not expect to see are two guards and a tax collector demanding 20 silver in taxes and that I report to Lord Vapetor's manor today for some gala that he's holding. In addition that I must serve my 1-day of mandatory indentured servitude, I also must bring 3 barrels of my best beer! The gall of them. As I mull on this situation, I make a decision with strong conviction. I've had enough. I spike one of the barrels of beer, the 2nd to the served tonight, with some hops that have gone bad. This should teach all of them! I arrive at the manor house a few minutes early and I'm escorted to the kitchen with my barrels of beer. I am to serve the beer and wash dishes tonight. As I attempt to learn more information from the rest of the kitchen staff, one of them indicates that Lord Reyxina is going to be stopping by tonight. Otherwise, most of them are cagey and only want to continue with their life as it is. They are happy with this oppression. I asked for help, but none were willing. During all this, I did notice that there were two individuals that actually seemed to be paying attention to what I was saying. I press on with them and work on riling them up discussing unfair taxation. I most certainly bring up some of the events of the previous day. What might have happened to all of us at the end of the festival and why did many of us wake up several hours later with all the fancy folks gone? It had to be magic that did this! This definitely drew the attention of several others, but a few now really wanted nothing to do with what I was saying. Having had enough of what was happening, I decide that I need to go leave and let loose all the horses, these fancy folks can walk home tonight! As I enter the house I notice that the is floating armour and candles in the main house! How on Solace is this possible?! Magic is here for sure, what hypocrisy!! I also see a shiny gem on the wall and I take it. Shortly after I confront one nobleman, but not to the point where it becomes detrimental to my being. It was incredible to see that all of the servers in the main hall were floating suits of armour, walking as if they are worn, holding silver platters full of the beer that I had poured and the food that others had cooked. They all know about this and willingly participate. I will definitely need to speak to Amber about this. Speaking of which…I have not seen her at all today. It was about time to leave. With the stolen gem, I run out to the stables and consider my beer and barrels as forfeit. En route to the stables, one of the other kitchen staff that was speaking with me follows me out and asks me to join them for a nightcap at the Innocent Egg. He passes me a gold coin with a black slack through one side of it, and then leaves. At the stables I find Bartholomew and Theran. I let them know that I've had enough of this place and that I'm leaving and they ask for a ride back with me. I happily oblige and let them know about the offer for a nightcap at the Innocent Egg and they decide to join. I get a round of beers for us and pay the bartender with the newly acquired gold coin. They go back to their business and we get back to drinking. A few minutes later, a stranger joins us and tell us that "it isn't fair," alluding to the tax situation that we're in. He says, "if you're tired of living under the shroud, meet me here tomorrow at dusk", and then leaves a familiar gold coin with me and pays for our drinks. I drop Theron and Bartholomew at their homes after we all commit to returning here tomorrow. I will pick them up on my way back. I feel much better tonight than I did this morning.
