Elves known as the Shadar-Kai once forsook the god Corellon for Lolth, and then again forsook Lolth for Corellon. Their home has come to be called The Nightshade Kingdom, also known as Shadowfell. The Shadar-Kai guard against the Underdark's intrusion. Karnifax warns us to be weary of parlay with the Shadar-Kai, for they may change their dispositions toward us several times. The Golden City of Elves, in turn, guards our world against the Shadar-Kai (they do NOT like being called "Forsaken"). The Shadar Kai are all descendant from the mages who brought The Raven Queen to power, and as such there are only 9 family names among the Shadar-Kai. The original shadar-kai had only first names, but they apprenticed to the 9 great wizards who helped take the mantle of Nerull and give it to the Raven Queen. It's not completely certain what happened to the wizards after the ritual, however it is likely that they were killed by the raven queen in her efforts to conceal her true identity from history. The Nine Families are: #Ashok #Chanoch #Cree #Ilvani #Natan #Skagi #Traedis #Uwan #Vedoran During a diplomatic mission, 24 Shadar-Kai have returned to make the Initiate's Gambit and join the Magistery.
