Ched Nesad is a former Drow city that was destroyed by a cave-in (these are becoming much more common in the Underdark). Kaanyr and Karnifax are both from this Drow city. Kaanyr seems to have been recruited by House Yauntyrr to aid in Danifae's plot, while Karnifax seems to have been drawn to House Melarn as one of the Houses that seems "...less crazy and murderous" than the other Drow houses.
