Drow Houses

The Drow society in Menzoberranzan is formally governed by the Ruling 8, or the 8 most powerful noble houses in Drow High Society. Invitation to the ruling 8 is the purview of the highest house, currently House Baenre, and the highest house is determined by a ruling vote. House Baenre has been the ruling house of Menzoberranzan for millenia.

House Baenre

The apparant ruling house in Menzoberranzan. House Baenre is first among the 'Ruling 8" houses in the Drow city. Like most Drow Houses, House Baenre is titularly led by a Headmistress Yvonnel, but in fact the real power is Gromph Baenre, a male Drow magic User whose power might be the only to rivalk that of Lord Dyrr.

House Dyrr's loyalties are unknown. Actions of their only known member, Lord Dyrr suggest that they COULD be allied to NEITHER House Melarn nor House Yauntyrr.

Led by Mistress Halisstra Melarn, this house seems to be preeminent among Drow Houses. In addition to it's drow members, House Melarn also claims the loyalty of the Draegloth in the Underdark.
