It started with an invitation. We had been invited to visit the Conventicle by the Seer. We've had a few run-ins with her at this point, and I was curious to learn more - especially to ask her more about what she meant when she told me I should visit my family.
I was with Dereth, Kaylorr, Zanna, Sarya when Robin took out a map that looks like it outlined all the key Magistery outposts and a number of ley lines. As we looked at the map we were able to outline the outposts we knew:
- Song & Sorrow - Canticle
- Sanctum Nocturnum - Castellam
- Aina - The Citadel
There was one outpost we didn't know. It was just labeled "The Magistery"
- Aegir - The Magistery
It turns out that the Conventicle was an old Magistery outpost. This is where the Seer had invited us to. The Conventicle means "the unfaithful" and it is named that way because they left the Magistery since they didn't agree on a fundamental tenet. The Conventicle believes in knowledge while the Magistery believes in rules & justice. We were able to take a teleportation circle from Solace to the Conventicle.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Velah, an ancient red dragon, is known to frequent this area.
When we arrived, we realized it was very cold and clearly in the Winterlands. We also saw many teleportation circles, all guarded. The town had a number of imposing buildings, but even then, in the distance, you could see the Seer's tower. The town felt centuries old and had an Elven influence. Each building had words inscribed on it in Old Tongue, denoting the topic of study it was dedicated to. The Seer's tower said divination, but on the other buildings we saw: bladesinging, war, invention, technology, thaumaturgy, and others.
As we explored the town we ran into Altes. We asked him about the area and were trying to see if he too wore a Magistery Ring. When we asked him about his ring, he told us that the people of the Conventicle don't always wear their rings. Instead, they wear them when they need them. He said removing the ring is "just a simple logic puzzle."
IMPORTANT NOTE: We eventually learned how to take off the ring. You have to believe the ring can come off. This causes the Zone of Truth to make it a reality, since "you can only say the truth."
With that in mind, we continued on, working our way to the Seer's tower. One thing to note, most of the people in the Conventicle are older in comparison to the Magistery. We reached the tower and were invited in by the Seer. We followed her up into her oasis. It turns out he (Truth) Seer really likes birds. She had lots of birds in her oasis and on her robes. Specifically Blue Jays. I'm not sure why this might be important, but it stood out. As we spoke to the Seer, she began to tell me more about how she knew my family. It turns out I have known the Seer, that she had read my fortune, and my great grandmother had taught the Seer how to read fortunes. Apparently, my family comes from a long line of fortune tellers. It's an honor to get one, but I actually received three stanza. It means I will impact the world three times:
Visiting his origin for the first time forges a legacy
A river forked will be rejoined
A past retold will alter a future foretold
Seer told me more about my history. I was from Citaduin and the necklace I wear around my neck is a symbol of my house - the Scarab of Aradros. She told me to go visit my parents Selden and Haldir Vantaur. As the conversation started to die down Dereth began to ask questions about the differences between the Conventicle and the Magistery. She began to tell us that they disagree on a fundamental way the world should work - the concept of imposing order vs managing the chaos. She said, the Magistery believes in order above all else.
The Seer also told us that the Seal's Name is Vengochea and that she is a gold dragon - almost 10,000 years old. Also, it turns out Mordenkainen convinced the Seal to be more forceful and instead of being a figurehead of the Magistery, to take a more active role in its leadership. She also told us about "The Archons" of the Magistery. She said that they are judge jury and executioner (someone like Liandrin??). That "That Archons" word is law. The Conventicle considers themselves the most powerful wizards in the world - and the leaders of each discipline of magic often take a new name when they're elevated to their role.

As we spoke more, Zanna started getting impatient. It was then that the Seer told us she knew Zanna's grandfather, that his old laboratory was downstairs and she would take us there. We had an opportunity to view the workshop and explore, at which point the Seer told us that we should make sure we visit Steel before leaving for Citaduin. When we arrived, she ushered us in through another entrance where we saw Steel. He took us to the Chamber of Legacy or an armory of sorts. We entered the Chamber of Legacy and Kaylorr & Sarya found that an item had called to them. It seems that the Chamber has some magic that helps people find weapons or armor that are destined for them. Once we finished with the Chamber of Legacy, we took one of the portals to Citaduin. Unlike the Magistery we're use to, the outpost in Citaduin is much more spread out. It was more a section of the town with other buildings spread throughout, instead of one single building.
As we entered the down there was a large pyramid in the distance that seemed to call to me. As we approached it we saw that there was a symbol on the the building that matched the symbol on my necklace - moon and stars on an onyx disk. We took a chance and walked through the pyramid. As I walked through the halls, I was overcome with a feeling of nostalgia. It was like visiting home but not knowing where home is. Suddenly, we ran into a woman in the halls - who turned out to be my mother. She called for my father, expressing that it was "time". She brought us to a room and over the next 6 hours retold my entire history. As she spoke, Selden had this look of forlorn sadness - it's an image I won't forget. The sensation is weird, I'm now aware of my childhood, but I haven't lived it myself. Once she finishes retelling my history, Haldir tells us that I now have a new prophecy. However, before she tells me mine, she offers to first read my friends. She begins to read each of our prophecies individually. I am leaving out theirs because I believe the fortunes are personal and are their own to share.
Here is mine - four stanzas:
The death of the sun heralds an age of kinship,
The skies burn with fire and oceans turn to slime,
Intelligence gives way to wisdom, the aged become ageless,
In the void that binds he faces the end of all things.

It's been awhile since I last wrote down my lastest endeavors. Since the attack on Solace, I have been somewhat...preoccupied...
I ran into Chandra during the battle and things were...tense for lack of a better word but I digress.
To keep myself occupied I traveled with Rezik, Sarya, Dereth, and Zanna to the Conventicle on Magistry business. We meet The Seer who informs us of the Conventicle used to be a part of the Magistry until there was a falling out between both due to different philosophies. Conventicle sided more with trust and freedom, whereas the Magistry was about law and order. The Seer also told us that Mordenkainen was the one who pushed her to seek more power within the Magistry and to become more of a leader within but she opted to leave instead.
We also met with Steel who was the headmaster of the school of war. There Sarya and I enter the Legacy Chamber where the Divinity's Reach called out to me. What it truly does I do not know but with practice and time, I'm sure I will unlock all of it's secrets. Steel also shares with us the secret that enables us to remove our Magistry rings willingly. Wearing it for so long and being able to remove it felt wrong and foreign.
Under direction of the Seer we make a quick trip to Citaduin where we find Rezik's mother, Hildir, and his childhood home. Rezik is re-told everything about his childhood that was purged from his mind when he came back from death. Hildir tells Rezik his new prophecy and in turn tells the rest of us ours. I do not know what to make of mine but it feels me with anxiety and dread.
" A phoenix from the ashes does rise, amidst total darkness he will refound the sun."
Paired with what The Seer told me about Chandra, I can't help but feel nervous of what is to come. To find Chandra, we must find the Raven Queen as she is currently on a personal journey.
