Solace Government

The Solace Government is technically still a Monarchy, although it operates entirely as a parliament with the Solace Prime (the selected monarch) serving in largely a ceremonial capacity.

Responsibiltiies of the Government include legislation, administration of taxes and public services, and property management.

Taxes and Public Services

The primary form of taxation in Solace is 5% of land value taxed per year, it is collected on a rotating schedule like a clock, sweeping its collection plate in a circular revolution across the city once per year. All of Solaces' public works and facilities are provided for with this collection, additionally all imports are taxed by inspectors at docks and warehouses based on assessed value.

Property Management

Property sales in Solace happen exclusively through the government (although there are some who deal in direct sales, it is illegal and generally difficult to accomplish without the right contacts). If any property owner wishes to sell their property, they may request an evaluation from the government, and the government will offer the citizen a sum equal to 5% less than its tax assessed worth. Similarly, anyone looking to purchase property would purchase it from the government for 5% above the tax assessed worth.
