Invitation to the ruling 8 is the purview of the highest house, currently House Baenre, and the highest house is determined by a ruling vote. House Baenre has been the ruling house of Menzoberranzan for millenia.

Though the titular head of House Baenre is Yvonnel Baenre, it appeaars that the House is actually led by Gromph Baenre, a male Drow Magic User whose power might be the only rival to that of Lord Dyrr.

Led by Mistress Halisstra Melarn, this house seems to be important among Drow Houses. In fact it sits among the Ruling 8, the highest houses in Drow high society. In addition to its drow members, House Melarn also claims the loyalty of the Draegloth in the Underdark. House Melarn contaiuns the most fanatical followers od Lolth. It was formed by remnants of Houses Kenafin and Horlbar after the fall of Ched Nasad.

All that is known of that House Do'Urden, is that it is a formerly disgraced house that was reformed by Yvonnel Baenre.
House Yauntyrr
Led by Headmistress Danifae Yauntyrr, House Yauntyrr seems to be at the center of the plot to release the Chaos Curse on Solace. Danifae was once the bonded captive of Halisstra of #House Melarn Though we have encountered her minions in the form of the Black Ice Gang, intelligence suggests that Danifae herself has yet to leave the Underdark and indeed would be among the last to do so, should her plot succeed. It also seems that Danifae started the conflict that led to the destruction of Ched Nasad, perhaps as the catalyst breaking away from Halisstra and starting her own house .
