Halisstra's Letter

A letter from Halisstra Melarn, Drow Headmistriss of House Melarn to the Magistery delievered by an emmissary from Menzoberranzan.

Dear Magistery representatives,

The drow society is a cruel and unforgiving one, and while Lolth's silence has left us in a state of abandon, there are a number of house lords and ladies that see this power vacuum as an opportunity. Some houses are of the mind that this silence is temporary, and is indeed a test.

House Melarn's stance is that of caution, whether or not this is a test, we will not be caught off guard. Lolth's will is hers and hers alone and we are but flies trying to comprehend the weave itself.

It has come to my attention that you have met with several agents of an unknown house. Danifae Yuantyrr was until recently my bonded, and while it is within our nature to scheme behind each others' backs, this steps well over the line. She has since been removed from my household.

I seek a peaceful transition from our realm into yours. Please seek me out in Menzoberranzan.

As a token of my sincerity, my emissary has been given instructions to answer any and all of your questions to the best of his ability, provided he feels it safe to do so. He will also serve as your guide through the underdark, assuming you are able to convince the forsaken to let you pass.
