Hey players you can make notes here about story threads

For a list of completed quests, see the Game-Summaries:Game Summaries

The Silence of Lolth

It has been learned from from various sources that the Spider God-Queen of the Drow, Lolth has fallen silent. The Divine spellcasters among the Drow are unable to cast spells, and the Underdark seems to be collapsing. This has spurred the Drow into seeking refuge in other planes. After failed attempts to relocate elswhere, they have begun evacuting the the Underdark to Eomas. There seem to be a number of competeing Drow Houses and potentially unallied powers leading these efforts. (See Silence of Lolth for more information).

Black Ice Gang

There seems to be a number of cells associated with the Gang, each of which is tasked with some goal, so far indicated only by a key word. each cell also has a leader, a few of which have been eliminated. It is unclear whether eliminating the cell leader has neutralized that cell. At least in one case, it seems not.

The gang are the priests and servants of the Spider Queen Lolth. The denizens of Lolth's secret churches in Solace mark themselves with a small drawing of her symbol on their forehead, but the common man sees only ash. These priests or priestesses are always looking to hire common impoverished citizens looking for work.

Cells

Our investigations have uncovered the existence of the following cells:

Leader Task Whereabouts
Valas "Chaos" DECEASED
Hune "Portals" DECEASED
Kaanyr "Magistery" CAPTURED
Lord Dyrr "Temple District" whereabouts unknown
Nimor "Shepherd" whereabouts unknown
Imphraezl "Assembly and Release" whereabouts unknown
Danifae Yauntyrr "Leader" Underdark
Dakasuta "Base" DECEASED
Aliisza "Recruitment" DECEASED
Jez'zara "Recruitment" DECEASED

We know at least some of these cells are inticing citizens of Solace with the promise of work, and then pressing them into servitude.

Cells were initially identified during Game-Summaries:11/24 Recollections

Tasks and Whereabouts

Our Investigations have uncovered the following information about each leader's tasks and possible locations:

Valas "Chaos"

DECEASED

Valas was a cell leader for The Black Ice Gang that was tasked with colleccting ingrediaents for The Chaos Curse. A Magistery party including Jorg, Cassio, Ember, Ci and Jeroy successfully disrupted Valas's harvesting of ingredients, destroying a cache of Rust Monster Saliva, freeing a number of civilians who had been pressed in to service, killing both Valas and his Champion, collapsing the tunnels leading to the docile Rust Monsters, and capturing a Drow Soldier for interrogation (see Game-Summaries:2/16 Recollections).

Chaos Curse ingredients list was discovered in Game-Summaries:9/9 Recollections

Hune "Portals"

DECEASED

Hune was a Warlock, and cell leader of the Black Ice Gang. Hune seems to have been tasked with creating Portals to allow travel (at least) to and from the Underdark. A Magistery Party encountered him on 1/27 (see Game-Summaries:1/27 Recollections) and though he escaped the encounter, they were able to collapse the portal he had opened. A later party was able to predict the location of Hune's next Portal, and set an ambush for him at the suspected location. Though he managed to avoid the ambush set by Tallulah and company at the Hillock, much to their surprise, Hune decided to fight rather than flee. He employed devastating magic, particularly against those whoi inflicted damage against him, and forcibly summoned and bound a Draegloth to fight for him. The party was able to kill Hune, but he expired in a great spurt of hellfire damaging all in the vicinity, and nearly killing Ci outright. The Draegloth released from Hune's control, immediately sued for peace. We recovered a few items from Hune including a Helm of Teleportation, Bracers of Defense and a Staff of Withering which we believe to be an Intelligent weapon.

Kaanyr "Magistery"

CAPTURED - POTENTIALLY DECEASED

Investigating Kaanyr (notes from Rezik)

I started by first trying to just see if there were any patterns in the Magistery. I was worried that we had been compromised, that someone had become a spy in the Magistery, so I was looking for anyone that was out of place. It was more difficult that I anticipated.

I got my lucky break when Reshi, an Adept, took note of me and confided in me that she had found a likely location for most of the cell leaders. She was looking for more information before reporting her findings, but I finally convinced her to confide in me. She agreed in exchange of me swearing to wipe Kaanyr out of existence and report our discoveries and findings back to her first.

It turns out Kaanyr has a hideout in the Temple District. He’s been using clever makeup, as well as magical illusions to hide his true nature and has been posing as a devotee of Corellon. I was don’t we’ll be able to gain access to the temple's barrack-style cleric's bedchambers, but Kaanyr seems to leave the temple around sundown every night with regularity. We’re not sure how long he's been here, but I suspect we could stalk and capture him easily.

Dyrr "Temple District"

Lord Dyrr is Drow Archlich. It appears that Lord Dyrr reports to no one (not Danifae like the others), and so might have some other agenda.

Nimor "Shepherd"

Elyn the drow reported that Nimor shepherds drow from the Underdark to Eomas from a portal "several hundred" miles South West of Solace.

Highest Liandrin told us that an Envoy was sent to The Nightshade Kingdom. The Magistery envoy has returned from The Nightshade Kingdom with good tidings, they have agreed to allow us into their domain in order to investigate and enter the portal to the underdark. This time, we bring the fight to them.

Imphraezl "Assembly and Release"

Creating the Chaos Curse. His location changes based on the ingredients he needs for the curse.

Investigation by Rezik: I've learned of a powerful wizard in an abandoned fortress about 80 miles north east of Solace, that I suspect may be Imphraezl. Some urchins have mentioned being on ferry and carrier jobs for him, and that he pays well and punishes severely for obscure ingredients transported safely. I've heard specific mention of several ingredients that comprise the Chaos Curse, including Rust Monster Saliva, Owlbear Feathers, Mimic's teeth, and Red Dragon Scales.

Danifae

Still in the Underdark. Will be the last one of the dark elves to come to Solace. She's the mistress and leader of the "invasion".

Dakasuta "Base"

DECEASED

Aliisza "Recruitment"

DECEASED

Jez'zara "Recruitment"

DECEASED

The Far / Outside

"It's the here there be dragons territory where the dragons are made of fish sticks made of crystallized screams of the sound of purple and the flavor of jealousy, or at least that's the closest your mind that is bound up in multiverse thinking and perception can come to comprehending it."

When searching for portals at the Farmers Enclave, we began to dig under the portals we found and discovered an underground city. Directly under the intertwined portals, we saw a pentagram that seemed to be used to create a casting using old tribal magic. Wisakedjak, the First Weaver, told us this originated from the “outside” while we’re the “inside”. It's possible that something from "The Far / Outside" is creating these portals.

While exploring the Training Dungeon Mishap (see Game-Summaries:1/12 Recollections) we discovered that we actually had been transported to an alternate dimension of sorts known as as The Far or The Outside. The strange place was filled with even stranger things including abominations and obscenities - creatures twisted by magic or experimentation - with paper walls and stone papers. Though it resembled the real world, the things inhabiting it were flawed reflections. At its center we met and destroyed a Mindflayer named Zahn who seemed to be at least thriving in this environment, if not actively creating and manipulating it. Before we could gather more information, however, we were transported back to the Magistery with more questions than when we left:

  • Was this Outside where the Training dungeons have always existed, and were they corrupted by Zahn for his own ends?
  • Is the Outside another realm entirely, in which case, how were we directed there, instead of our usual location?
  • Was this Zahn the architect of this madness, or merely a Pawn in a larger scheme, not yet glimpsed?
  • Will Cassio ever realize that Ember IS the bear?

Perhaps further investigations will yield greater truths, but for the time being, this line of inquiry seems to have ended.

The Artifact

Mystryl's Knot - During a brief discussion with Amon Therai after the Battle of Toldoth, Archmage Mordenkainen referred to the Artifact as Mystryl's Knot:

"You have Mystryl's knot here in the tower and you left it completely unguarded? I knew you were all rash, but by Baphomet's big ones, you need to keep a closer eye on your house."

  • "The Artifact, known to you as the training dungeon, doesn't do anything without a reason - everything you experience there is done with thought". - The Seal of the Realm
