Hune

A Warlock, and member of the Black Ice Gang. Hune seems to be tasked with creating Portals to allow travel (at least) to and from the Underdark. A Magistery Party encountered him on 1/27 (see Game-Summaries:1/27 Recollections) and though he escaped the encounter, they were able to collapse the portal he had opened.

Task Unknown - It could be inferred that this task involves the creation or maintenance of Portals to and from the home of the Drow, known as the Underdark, and other locations (see Game-Summaries:10/6 Recollections and Game-Summaries:12/9 Recollections). We have no proof to back up this theory however.

Hune has proven difficult to learn anything about, however reading up on the mysterious portal from fellow classmates and using their accurately drawn image (Game-Summaries:12/9 Recollections), Ford was able to drop a few signs and hints using his thieves' cant and discover that a wild mage has been drawing similar imagery into the ground in various locations, about 20 miles east of town.

Doing some additional digging into the symbolism of the portal itself Ford discovered strange references to old languages far gone, it's difficult to obtain accurate translations cause so much has been lost to time but one thing is very clear: this magic does not originate from this realm. The symbols you are able to translate indicate some kind of breach into the "in-between," the space between planes.

A Magistery party including Ford, Jeroy, Kaylorr, Pearl, and Tallulah attempted to track down Hune on 1/27. (see Game-Summaries:1/27 Recollections)

During their investigation, the party discovered some disturbing facts:

  • Hune is in fact a Warlock who is allied with the Drow. He is inscribing Portals using symbols inscribed in an unknown language on the ground. the purpose of these Portals, at least in part to bring Drow from the Underdark in to our world. Hune remains at large, as he escaped before being captured or killed. It also seems that these Portals can be collapsed on our side. **Note: If some way can be found of detecting and tracking these Portals, we can at least get a clear idea of how often they are being used, and perhaps even counter them as they appear.
  • The Drow are gathering in great numbers in caverns above Old Solace for purposes still unknown.
  • There seems to be considerable resources available in the Underdark that are being committed to this endeavor, including Creatures, Drow soldiers, powerful magic users and strange magic items.
  • Some power in the Underdark seems to be able to transform and empower other creatures. The party investigating Hune encountered (and killed) a strange mushroom creature wielding a Staff of the Woodlands. This creature appears to have once been a dark elf druid that had been corrupted and whose powers had been significantly increased.

A Magistery party including Ci, Loco, Sakura, Sarya, and Tallulah chased down and eliminated Hune after he escaped their last encounter on Carneira Diveneris, 2/13/346. (See Game-Summaries:3/10 Recollections)

In preparing for the second encounter with Hune, Tallulah informed all of the local farmsteads of the drow she and her companions had encountered earlier in the larger region of the greenlands around Solace. After checking in with them daily she finally found someone who had seen new drow! He was wary about the fungal growths he had been warned of, but he was able to give enough information for Tallulah to scout a location. After tracking for a couple of days she found that Hune has gotten far more clever, and appears to be closing, moving, and reopening his portal regularly. She also discovered the source of the drow trail was coming from what looked like a carved out hillock. Tallulah, recognizing that Hune has a pattern, thinks she can predict the next hillock he will attempt to inhabit.

Hune managed to avoid the ambush set by Tallulah and company at the Hillock, but much to their surprise, decided to fight rather than flee. He employed devastating magic, particularly against those whoi inflicted damage against him, and forcibly summoned and bound a Draegloth to fight for him. The party was able to kill Hune, but he expired in a great spurt of hellfire damaging nearly all in the vicinity, and nearly killing Ci outright. The Draegloth released from Hune's control, immediately sued for peace. We recovered a few items from Hune including a Hune's Staff of Withering which we believe to be an Intelligent weapon.

Little else was known of Hune, other than it seemed he was allied to The Drow, who are using the Portals to infiltrate the Ruins under Old Solace. he may also have some connection to a being of some power known as Demogorgon. Hune was overheard calling upon this entity for help in our last encounter with him. (See Game-Summaries:1/27 Recollections)
